The Pinthouse knows how to brew beer (thanks Joe Mohrfeld, Head Brewer). I tried the Bearded Seal, a 6.1% ABV Imperial Dry Irish Stout, offered on nitro (insert jump for joy). It’s deep and rich, with chocolate and coffee notes, yet very drinkable. The Seal paired nicely with The Armadillo; olive oil, cheese, artisan sausage, poblano peppers, ricotta, and cilantro. The sausage is the star of this pie; good enough to be eaten alone no doubt. The spice is tamed a bit by the ricotta, but The Armadillo is definitely on the hot side, just like I like it. This beer and pizza combo was a marriage made in heaven. The menu is well rounded with healthy salad options and boasts a couple of traditional deserts as well. A great place for the whole family (send your kids over to the arcade corner for some grown folk time over a beer), but also has the atmosphere to support date night or an evening out with friends.
