Blues On the Green

This summer marks the 25th anniversary of the beloved Austin tradition Blues on the Green. So get your lawn chairs and head to Zilker Park for some fantastic live music underneath the sun.

Line-Up

Hosted by Radio 93.3 KGSR, Blues on the Green has always strived to showcase mega talents from or residing in Austin. This summer's line-up kicked off with Jimmie Vaughan and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band. Crowds of eager Austinites transformed Zilker Park into a sound and stage paradise. If you missed the first concert-no worries, local legend Bob Schneider is performing on July 22nd at 8 pm. Future acts include headliners Jamestown Revival on August 5th and Shakey Graves on August 12th for the grand finale.

Food

What's an Austin tradition without the delicious food? Blues on the Green is fully stocked with vendors and restaurant goodies to satisfy each and every hungry guest. Whether it be Freebird's, Southside Pizza, Amy's Ice Cream, or Black's Barbeque, Blues on the Green has got you covered. So feel free to leave your food and drinks at home.

Tickets

While general admission is free of charge, making Blues on the Green a popular destination and alternative to pricey festivals, this year marks the first with a VIP option. For the price of $100 you will receive; Shady Grove catering, two drink tickets, parking, chairs in shady sections, designated bathrooms, and a cash bar option.

Transportation

Blues on the Green is located at Zilker Park. Main site parking is available for $5 at Zilker Park Polo and Stratford Fields. There are also some additional parking sites in the local area. If you want to beat the traffic, bike racks are also an option along with various bus routes.

What's better than food and music? Food, music, and a movie! Sound & Cinema at the Long Center brings everything you love about Austin all into one place.

Food

Some of Austin's most popular food trucks will provide the grub for your Sound & Cinema experience starting at 6 pm on a Wednesday. Choose from The Peached Tortilla, Garbo's Maine Lobster, Uncle Louis G's and many more. Make sure to leave the alcohol at home along with your furry pet. Sound & Cinema is for humans only.

Music Line-Up

After you've satisfied your hunger, beginning at 8 pm an up-and-coming band will get the crowd moving and pumped for the main movie event. The upcoming musicians include Latasha Lee & The Black Ties, along with Hard Proof, Calliope Musicals, and the Night Owls. This diverse array of musical genres is sure to please everyone's musical likings.

Movie Line-Up

Featuring some of your favorite childhood films of all time, Sound & Cinema has already showed Weekend At Bernies and Ferris Bueller's Day Off on their huge inflatable screen. As soon as the sun sets, get ready to revisit future showings of Ghostbusters, Naked Gun, The Never Ending Story, and The Sandlot amidst a glowing Austin skyline.

Weekly Songwriter Series

If you'd prefer to beat the heat this summer try out the Weekly Songwriter Series at Red Eyed Fly. Located on Red River Street, the Red Eyed Fly feels like Austin the moment you enter.

Every Wednesday, countless local talents perform their original works in a dive bar atmosphere. Catch the acts before they become the next big thing. You must be 21 to enter, and the show begins at 8 pm free of charge. For the aspiring songwriter newbies, from midnight to 2 am is the open mic portion. So feel free to prepare some music and lyrics beforehand because the stage can soon be yours.

You don't have to spend a fortune to listen to some terrific tunes. Austin is jam-packed (no pun intended) with live music that is absolutely free. Enjoy some soothing blues at Zilker Park, or rising stars of stage and cinema at the Long Center, and finish it all off with some fresh new talent at the Red Eyed Fly. Whatever the venue, the constant is simple good music, good eats, and great new fun.
