ROUND ROCK HISTORY
The city of Round Rock was once a small community known as Brushy Creek in 1851. It gained prominence as a destination on the Chisholm Trail. It was once the scene of a shootout between train robber Sam Bass and law officials. In later years, it became a prime location for industries and businesses. The city now serves as the international headquarters of the Dell Corporation that employs approximately 16,000 people. TECO-Westinghouse is another major employer that calls Round Rock home. Based on 2010 U.S. Census Bureau data, it ranks as the 35th largest city in Texas and has received numerous awards for its long-term planning.
