Another Austin summer is quickly approaching, and before you know it autumn will have arrived. Don’t let the summer go by without taking advantage of all the incredible events happening around Austin! Need help figuring out where to start?

Here are our top 4 picks for June:

X Games, June 5-8th, 2014

Held at Circuit of the Americas in southeast Austin, the X Games bring people from all over the country to catch live music and extreme sports like skateboarding and BMX biking. This year, the X Games pulled in big musical acts like Kanye West and the Flaming Lips, but don’t miss the new “Nine Festival Villages” feature that will have festival sections dedicated to fashion, video games, kart racing, and more.

ATX Television Festival, June 5-8, 2014

The ATX Television Festival is a celebration of all things related to the medium of television--its history, its future, and all the people who have made TV what it is today. The festival features three days of panels, screenings, and even a pitch contest for creative types with a story to tell. Stars from shows like Friday Night Lights, Orange is the New Black, Revenge, and more are expected to attend and sit on discussion panels. Actor Henry Winkler will also be presented with an award for Achievement in Television Excellence. This festival promises a one-of-a-kind weekend!

“Concerts in the Park,” Sundays at 7:30pm from May 25-August 24, 2014

The Hartman Foundation and the Austin Symphony Orchestra are providing Austinites with a free Sunday concert series throughout the summer. Each week a different ensemble and style of music will be featured, so music lovers can listen in from blankets and lawn chairs across the grass of Hartman Concert Park. Now everyone has access to top notch performances of jazz, classical, and big band standards. For a perfect summer night made easy, bring dinner and enjoy the warm air and good music!

Keep Austin Weird Fest and 5K, Saturday June 28, 2014

Named for our city’s famous slogan, Keep Austin Weird Fest is a day full of music, food, and activities that people of all ages can enjoy. This festival seeks to authentically capture the quirky, creative vibe that makes so many people fall in love with Austin. A 5K run/walk keeps the event’s energy high and acts as a fundraiser for the Capital Area Food Bank, so do something nice for yourself and your community by checking out this event.
