When you’re hunting for a new home, you might feel overwhelmed by all the options you have to choose from. It can be difficult to even know where to start, but there are a few different things you can think about to help narrow your search.
One of the more obvious factors to consider is your budget. This is usually the most concrete piece of the equation for most people--they typically have a particular price range they’d like to stay in. Figuring out your budget needs can help you get a better idea of what size or type of home to look for, whether it be a multi-bedroom house, a mid-sized apartment, or a downtown condo.
Another aspect that tends to be important to our clients is location. If you work or attend classes, think about what you’d like your commute to look like. Your realtor can make some suggestions on what neighborhoods might be most convenient for you--and be sure to mention whether you plan to drive, bike, or take public transportation. If you have children, you might want to do some research on the local schools to see if there’s a certain district you’d prefer to live in.
Last but not least, think about what kind of atmosphere you want your neighborhood to have. Do you like a busier, more energetic environment, or do you prefer quieter surroundings? Do you mind traveling for activities or would rather have all the entertainment you need just footsteps away? Your realtor will be familiar with all the different sides of town and can point you in the right direction based on your preferences. Depending on the region you’re searching in, there may be several options that fit what you’re looking for. My advice would be to visit each neighborhood to see what feels most like home.
These are just a few suggestions that can help you simplify your new home search. Remember, your realtor wants you to love your new Austin home as much as you do. Don’t be afraid to approach them with questions. Our team at Pauly Presley Realty is always happy to help, so if you’re looking to begin the search process, don’t hesitate to give us a call!
