Valentine's Day is just around the corner. We're sure lots of you already have your dinner plans squared away, but if you've got a sweet tooth after your romantic meal, check out our list of the best places to get some lovely dessert for you and your Valentine.
Big Top has perhaps one of the greatest selections of classic candy in Austin. Plus, they also feature a fully stocked soda bar and milkshake menu to satisfy even the largest of sweet cravings. Just a short (uphill) walk from the famous "I love you so much" painted on the side of Jo's Coffee, it's a great place to take your sweetheart for some sweet treats. According to Big Top's Facebook page, they've got a menu item specifically for Valentine's Day, and it looks pretty delicious.
If you're looking for a decadent treat unique to our city, Austin Cake Ball could be just what you need this Valentine's Day. On the surface, cake balls don't sound too complicated, but Austin Cake Ball has created a ton of different flavors that will make choosing your favorite difficult. For Valentine's, they're offering a specific selection that includes luxurious Red Velvet, classically delicious Chocolate, and silky smooth Salted Caramel flavors. You can visit them either at their flagship store on Burnet Road (open 9am-7pm Valentine's Day), or inside of Copper Restaurant and Dessert Lounge inside of the Domain (open 11:30am-10pm Valentine's Day).
Tiff's Treats has sweetened the days of Austinites for nearly 20 years, but did you know about their Valentine's Day cookie truffles? They're only available February 10-14th, and sell out quickly. You might want to head to their website and order while you can.
But that's not all - they're also offering adorable Valentine's Day sugar cookies with heart-shaped sprinkles. Plus, all of their delicious treats can be delivered to you (or to your loved one) wherever they are. All Tiff's Treats locations are open until 9pm on Valentine's Day.
Another Austin-local legend is Lammes Candies. They've been in business since 1885, and producing their signature "Texas Chewie Pecan Praline" since 1892. It's still their bestselling item, and it's a recipe that's worked for over 100 years.
Lammes has a large selection of Valentine's Day candies to surprise your Valentine, and they're conveniently located throughout the city. Lammes can even ship some Austin-local candy to anyone across the continental US!
Tiny Pies is the original handheld pie, born right here in Austin. In addition to their normal selection of delicious flavors, they're offering some really special creations for Valentine's Day. It's hard to get more romantic than a literal "Love Letter Pie," and Tiny Pies also lets you order online for pickup. Order before the 12th to make sure your adorably itty-bitty desserts are ready by Valentine's Day.
Tiny Pies locations have limited seating space for dining in, but usually have plenty of pies on hand for you to pick some favorites to take home. Visit them at their original store on Burnet (10am to 8pm Valentine's Day) or you can head South to their Lamar location(11am to 10pm Valentine's Day).
Delysia is a craft chocolatier based in Austin and designing desserts in true European fashion. One of their unique qualities is their desire to create chocolates for those with dietary restrictions. According to their website, they are able to make their creations gluten free, vegan, or dairy free on demand.
This Valentine's Day, Delysia is offering free chocolate tastings on the 13th and 14th. They require an RSVP, so make sure you sign up in advance!
Chocolaterie Tessa is an Austin-born artisan chocolate company. They've been producing masterful desserts since 2012, and are of course in full swing this Valentine's Day season. The Chocolate + Roses bundle they're offering makes Valentine's Day easy for any procrastinators, but order before they sell out.
Tessa also puts on events for Valentine's Day: On Sunday, Feb 12th, you can visit Zilker Brewing for a beer and chocolate pairing. You'll even get a take-home glass from Zilker Brewing to remember the romantic evening with.
Yes, you probably aren't surprised to see Amy's Ice Cream on our list. It's an Austin mainstay when it comes to desserts. But what you might not know is that they've got a special item on their menu for this time of year.
For February 13th and 14th only, you can get chocolate covered strawberries from the famous creamery. Their website recommends you pre-order to make sure you get them before they're gone. Check out which Amy's location you'll want to visit with your sweetheart (and yes, there are lots in Austin).
Hey Cupcake! is an Austin staple offering incredible cupcakes with light and fluffy frosting. Specializing only in cupcakes, they have a wide variety of tastes and flavors. If your S.O. has some diet requirements, they also offer gluten-free options.
To celebrate V-Day, Hey Cupcake! is offering LuvCake packages, which involved Strawberry Cream Cheese Frosting on top of delicious chocolate cake.
Sugar Mama's Bakeshop creates some gorgeous and delicious cakes, cupcakes, and macarons to satisfy those with even the most decadent sweet tooth. They're offering a Valentine's Day specific menu to help you find the best desserts for you and a sweetheart to share.
