ice on a tree branchIf you’ve lived in Austin for a while, you've felt our harsh winters. To prepare for the absolute worst weather conditions, the Pauly Presley Realty team has prepared a couple provisions for you on how to winterize a house to help you literally weather the storm.

1. Prepare a list.

Murphy's Law states that, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.” Unfortunately, this definitely applies to home maintenance. During rough winter weather, you might walk through your hallway one day and the next a fallen tree may suddenly greet you before your morning coffee. To prevent this, sit down for at least an hour and focus only on all the things that go wrong. Chances are that these things probably won't happen, but it's better to be prepared for anything…

row of two story gray houses

At Pauly Presley Realty, we want to make sure that your house stands out. We very much want your house to be the envy of all of your neighbors. Over time, that pristine house in a great Austin neighborhood may fade into the background a little bit. Instead of letting your home be a victim to the ravages of weather and time, take your property into your hands and make your house the center of the neighborhood.

Here are the best ways to upgrade your home for more curb appeal.

Fresh coat of paint.

It might sound a bit obvious, but it also needs to be reiterated: new paint can completely change a house. Not just the color, either, but the way the home pops off of the curb. Over time, exteriors naturally fade, which is why some tender love and care…

When you’re hunting for a new home, you might feel overwhelmed by all the options you have to choose from. It can be difficult to even know where to start, but there are a few different things you can think about to help narrow your search.

One of the more obvious factors to consider is your budget. This is usually the most concrete piece of the equation for most people--they typically have a particular price range they’d like to stay in. Figuring out your budget needs can help you get a better idea of what size or type of home to look for, whether it be a multi-bedroom house, a mid-sized apartment, or a downtown condo.

Another aspect that tends to be important to our clients is location. If you work or attend classes, think about what you’d like…

When Pauly Presley Realty opened in Austin in 2005, we were anticipating a lot of growth in East Austin, and in the near-decade we’ve been in business, that’s exactly what we’ve seen happen.

East Austin is a really hot area of the city to move to right now, and I think a lot of that is due to its proximity to downtown, the thriving arts scene, and all the amazing local businesses that give the neighborhood a unique personality. There’s been a huge influx of people moving east--it’s actually the fastest growing region of the city right now. And when you look at this neighborhood, it’s not hard to see why.

East Austin stands out among other Austin neighborhoods because it has an eclectic, artsy atmosphere but also a rich culture and history. It’s a…

As a real estate agent here in Austin, I've lived within the city for six years and have been helping home owners and tenants find housing that meets their needs. Everyone knows Austin's real estate market is hot, but what people don’t understand is the sense of urgency that is required to put your best offer on the table. Over the last few years, Austin has averaged over 100 new residents a day which has created a limited supply in the housing market. Occupancy rates have been as high as 98% in certain parts of the city which has caused the landlords to increase their rent drastically and even tighten their lease polices.

Because of the heavy influx of new Austinites, we are all feeling the effects from traffic, to renting a house, buying a home, or…

happy couple moving in to their new home

Great news for young people looking to purchase their first house: Austin, Texas was just listed in the top 10 best U.S. cities for millennial homebuyers!

The list, released by the National Association of Realtors (NAR), rated cities based on current employment data, median home prices, affordability, and home price growth. The NAR also calculated the percentage of millennials already living in the metropolitan area and their share of all age groups moving there. Austin’s awesome job market (growth is currently at 4.2%), thriving music/arts scene, and abundance of new construction made it a top destination for younger generations.

In fact, about 110 new people move to the Austin area each day, and a good number of these individuals are younger than…

It’s hard to believe it’s already August! Soon kids will be going back to school, temperatures will start to drop, and before you know it, autumn will have arrived. If you’re wondering how to make the most of your last few weeks of summer in Austin, we’ve compiled a list of events, attractions, and must-do’s to keep you busy.

Visit a swimming hole (or several!)

If you’ve spent a summer here in the sweltering heat, it’s easy to see why Austinites are big fans of swimming. One of the things that makes summer in Central Texas so unique is the abundance of swimming holes that offer beautiful surroundings as you cool off. There are plenty of great places to swim within city limits (Barton Springs, Deep Eddy, and Red Bud Isle are popular choices), and a…
